Course Introduction and Copyright

This training course’s contents include eLearning contents, assessment tests, and supplemental files.

All the contents associated with this training course are the property of ERI and are IP (Intellectual Property) protected.  Any copying, screen-capturing, recording, printing, or screen-sharing without prior written consent from ERI shall be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

General Information

The course requires familiarity regarding the use of certain tools and equipment in *field heat treatment.  It is the responsibility of the employee and heat treatment company to provide the equipment and ensure the trainee has gained adequate hands-on learning and experiences with them.  Such heat treatment will often be associated with welds and other components and may be used before, during and/or after welding.

*Field Heat Treatment means we take our service to the customer and treat their metals on-site.

Completion and Certificate

Upon successful completion of this training course, a certificate of completion (also called “certificate” for short) will be awarded to the user.  It will contain the training course’s name, the user’s name, date of completion, and a unique certificate ID.  Under normal circumstances, the certificate shall remain associated with the name of the user who completed the training course as record—unless ERI has reasons to suspend or void the certificate.  More on this below.

The intended purpose of the certificate of completion, as its name suggests, is to indicate the user’s completion of this training course, along with all of its materials, practices, and assessments.  It does not guarantee the user’s knowledge retention, willingness to apply knowledge, professional conduct…etc.  The user or the user’s employer(s) are not permitted to imply any further guarantee beyond the intended purpose stated above.

The authenticity of any user’s certificate may be verified by ERI, who keeps a complete database of all the certificates issued and can verify their authenticity.  The certificate is only valid and authentic if its ID number, user name, and the date of completion all match ERI’s internal records.

If the user or the user’s employer decides to use the certificate as a form of training record for potential client’s or employer’s consideration, the user shall encourage the potential employer or client to verify the certificate’s authenticity with ERI and inquire about the nature of the certificate.  Certificate verification can be obtained by contacting ERI via the email of: support@energyresourceinstitute.com

The user or the user’s employer must not use the certificate in any misleading, fraudulent, or illegal manner.  ERI reserves the right to suspend, withdraw, or void any certificate from a user who misuses the certificate in the aforementioned manner.  If in this situation, the user must discontinue the use of any claims regarding the certificate or any reference to ERI and scrap all copies of the certificate in the user’s possession.  In addition, any misuse which appears to be an infringement of the law will result in the matter being reported to the employer and, where appropriate, to the relevant law enforcement agency.

If the Course Access Is Paid by a Third Party

If the user’s access to this course has been paid for by a third party, such as the user’s employer, the said party would be entitled to:
– request a copy of the certificate from ERI. 
– have access to the user’s assessment test scores associated with this training course.

Professional Conduct

All certified personnel will be required to act professionally at all times while performing their duties as a heat Treatment professional.  This includes, but not limited to, the following professional conducts.

Keep logbooks of work activity and other details.

Gain clarity on their job’s scope and obtain in advance any necessary clarification or confirmation.

Shall not accept professional obligations they do not have sufficient competence or authority to perform.

Shall not claim authorizations, qualification or registrations for which he/she is not entitled.

When asked for professional advice, give an opinion that is objective and reliable, to the best of his/her ability.

Except when legally authorized in the national or public interest, a member shall not do anything, or permit anything under his/her authority to be done, of which the probable and involuntary consequences would, in his/her professional judgement, endanger human life or safety, expose valuable property to the risk of destruction or serious damage, or needlessly pollute the environment.

Respect all relevant laws and statutory regulations.

Respect of his/her professional relationships with employers, colleagues and clients.

Shall not maliciously or recklessly injure or attempt to injure, whether directly or indirectly, the professional reputation of another

Shall disclose to his/her client or employer any benefits or interests that he/she may have in any matter in which he/she is engaged on their behalf.

Shall declare any changes to his/her professional status that might affect the perception of employers or other interested parties as to his/her competence to undertake work for which he/she will be responsible.

Pursue professional development and stay up-to-date in the technology in which he/she practices.

When working overseas, one shall observe these rules as far as they are applicable, but where there are recognized standards of professional conduct in the country in which he/she is employed, he/she may adhere to them.

Course Access

Because this course is written in English, it is highly recommended that a candidate has an adequate level of English proficiency.  In addition, one must also have reliable internet-access via a computer or mobile device (such as smartphone, tablet, etc.) to complete this course.  Depending on one’s personal preference, one may include the use of a calculator, which is available on most computer or mobile devices, to complete any mathematical calculations associated with this training course.

Previous experience in construction, engineering or electrical fields would be advantageous before beginning the course although is not a prerequisite.

Assessment

This training course contains instructional lessons and practices.  During these portions, one may play, replay/retry, pause, exit, and resume at any time.  These are light-hearted, 24-7, and easy to revisit for one’s benefit.

However, the formal assessment test portion of this course is different.  It has a time limit (depending on the size of the assessment test), cannot be repeated, and must be completed in 1 single attempt.  Therefore, prior to engaging in the assessment, it is the user’s responsibility to ensure one’s own readiness by reviewing any necessary contents, ensure one has enough mental and physical stamina to complete the assessment test, and block out enough time for the assessment test.  Our test will give the user multiple reminders of this, so the user has opportunities to be well prepared prior to starting the assessment test.

Note: Per employer’s discretion, there may also be additional assessments as deemed necessary by employing company where required.

Limited Data Disclosure

By agreeing to take this training and its associated assessments, the user agrees to:

Allow ERI to maintain and analyze the resulted test data for training and development purposes, within ERI.

Allow ERI to verify/validate the authenticity of the user’s certificate of completion upon request from third parties such as prospective employers, clients, etc.

If this course was purchased by a third party for the user, grant the said third party access to the user’s certificate of completion and assessment scores.

Note: ERI is an educational institution and does not share user data with unrelated parties.  All user data are only within the scope of what’s professionally necessary for verification, learning, and assessment.
